Description
The Dragon Ball franchise is one of the finest anime series in the world. The series, created as a manga by Akira Toriyama in 1984, has always been popular, and it isn't hard to see why - interesting characters, cool locales, and intriguing plotlines. In addition to the 153 episodes created for the anime, movies were made as well. Unlike the Dragon Ball Z movies, which were side stories, the DB movies were retellings of the story. Three of the four movies were combined for FUNimation's Dragon Ball Movie Box.

Mystical Adventure - Dragon Ball Movie 3 Goku and Krillin have been training under Master Roshi for a while now, and he takes them off to participate in a tournament in a distant kingdom. This movie serves as a retelling of Goku meeting Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu, as well as the villain Mercenary Tao. When Goku and company arrive, it's clear not everything as right. Befriending a tough Indian man and his child, the group wages war on all that is corrupt in the kingdom.Good movie, good action, but too many characters. This is only made worse by the fact that a lot of the characters had their backstories changed - Tien and Chiaotzu being the major examples of this. A lot of the new characters to appear in the movies come off as uninteresting and undeveloped. But overall it's a good movie.
Dragon Ball Movie 4 - The Path to Power Tenth Anniversary Special
In honor of Dragon Ball's Tenth Anniversary, Toei did this special which is a retelling of the beginning of Goku's journey, and setting out to meet his friends, and battle foes. This time the Red Ribbon army is the villains from the get go.There are enough retellings of this story, but this movie is far superior to Movie 1. The animation is GT quality, which is about as high quality as you could get at this point in time. And the RR Army is far more interesting than King Gurumez from the first movie. A very good retelling.Overall a good collection. If you're a die-hard fan of the series, this movies will go well inyour collection.
Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle-Dragon Ball Movie 2
This movie is a retelling of when Goku met Krillin and Lunch. Master Roshi sends them off on a test to prove their worth, and see which one will be his new pupil. They are sent on a quest to retrieve a "sleeping princess" (no doubt so Roshi can do his own things to her.) Lunch has recently sneezed and turned evil, and she's got her eyes set on a gem in the same destination as our heroes. Things are only made worse by the fact that Bulma has been kidnapped by a vampire king of the devil's castle, in the same region. This is probably my favorite Dragon Ball (original series) movie. There's plenty of action and comic relief alike. And the action doesn't get so bogged down in introducing new characters that it gets frustrating. Basically this movie takes all the best elements of the earlier sagas of Dragon Ball and throws them together. I'm not too crazy about the villains, but they don't derail an excellent movie.
