FUNimation Entertainment, buoyed by strong sales from anime properties such as DragonBall Z, Full Metal Alchemist, Trinity Blood and Basilisk, recorded an impressive 47.8% spike in sales during the first quarter of 2007.Navarre reported its fiscal third quarter results (ending December 31st) Wednesday, noting that FUNimation had a "solid quarter," meeting profit expectations higher than the year ago. FUNimation's sales and profits were both positively affected by the resolution of a dispute with Atari over Dragon Ball Z video games.FUNimation's sales and profitability benefited from the resolution of a dispute with Atari, a licensee of interactive video game rights to the Dragonball Z franchise, which resulted in the realization of previously unpaid royalties.FUNimation anticipates that its licenses to Atari will provide an additional revenue stream going forward as a $10 million prepaid royalty advance that was received by FUNimation in 2004 has now been earned out.FUNimation enjoyed such a stellar spring.
