The episode starts with Vegeta screaming from blowing himself up. There is a huge golden aura around him. Buu is disintegrating in the blast, and finally disappears, with Vegeta disappearing after that. Piccolo and Krillin are flying away from the scene when they get pushed by the power of the blast. They both turn around to see the area covered in a gold aura. Krillin exclaims that Vegeta is going to die! Piccolo then says that he won't let Vegeta do this, and starts to fly away, but Krillin insists that Vegeta needs this, because it is the first time he is sacrificing himself for the sake of others. Hearing that, Piccolo stays.

Meanwhile, on the Capsule Corp. spaceship, everyone is silent. Yamcha is flying the plane, Ox-King and Master Roshi are in the far back, 18 is with Maron in the next front seat, and Chi-Chi and Videl on the seat behind Yamcha. Bulma is in the front next to Yamcha. Chi-Chi tells Videl she can't believe that she let everyone go, and Videl apologizes, but Yamcha says that there would have been no way to stop them, since they are so strong. Yamcha then asks Videl if they went this way, which she says they did. He speeds up, and Bulma begins to think to herself. She wonders why Vegeta did such a thing at the World Martial Arts stadium. She flashes back to that horrible moment when he blew up part of the stadium. Yamcha tells Bulma to calm down, and that if anyone died, they would be wished back by the dragonballs. Bulma then yells at him that she should kill him, and he is sideways, making the ship tilt sideways, and everyone fall over. 18 yells at him to fix the ship, and he does, but now something is making the ship vibrate, it is a gold wave pattern. When everything is ok, the ship goes back into position, and Master Roshi says that wasn't any ordinary turbulence, but from an incredible explosion. Just then, Bulma thinks to herself, saying that she has a horrible feeling in her heart, and she thinks she knows. The controls for the ship suddenly don't work! The engine blows up, and 18 is forced to get out of the ship and land it on an island. Bulma then sits by herself, calling Vegeta's name silently.

Back at the battlefield, we see Vegeta, who is now dead. He is completely white, and appears to be like a dirt clod. He is in the air, so he begins to fall into the crature, and hits the ground, breaking his body into pieces and all of them blowing into ashes in the wind. Piccolo and Krillin stop, feeling nothing from Vegeta. Piccolo says that he is going to go to the battlefield. Krillin wants to go also, but Piccolo tells him not to. Krillin asks if he thinks Majin Buu is still alive. Piccolo doubts it, but he says that there is no sense in taking any chances. He gives Krillin the unconscious Goten and Trunks, and he begins to leave, but stops, and wants to tell Krillin something. He says that he has to tell everyone of what happened today. Krillin asks what he should tell them. Piccolo says that he is unsure of what happened to Goku, but apparently Gohan was killed! Krillin can't believe it, but with that, Piccolo leaves, leaving Krillin to do all of the hard work.

Meanwhile, at the spaceship, Yamcha is fixing what happened to the ship. Master Roshi asks if he will be done soon, but Yamcha says that he underestimated the damage, and that they were lucky to be alive. Chi-Chi thanks 18 for saving them, and 18 just smiles. Bulma sits at the door of the ship, looking up at the sky.

Piccolo then flies to the battlefield. He sees the crature, not believing how big it is. He lands, and walks around to look at the aftermath. He sees Buu, in a million pieces, telling Vegeta that his sacrifice wasn't in vein, and he says goodbye to him. He hears Babidi's cries, and walks over to him. Babidi asks him for help, when Piccolo tells him that he won't since he is evil. He then sees one of Buu's pieces moving! He looks down at it, and then sees all of them are, and he exclaims that they are alive! They all form hundreds of Buus! They combine to form five Buus in the air. Piccolo can't believe it, and when those five Buus combine, the real Buu is starting to form. Piccolo flies off, with Babidi still crying in pain. Piccolo is now in the air, saying they will never be able to face up against him.

Meanwhile, Buu is back! And he hears Babidi's cries for help. Buu walks over to him, saying that he is hurt. Babidi screams at him to help him, but Buu says no. Babidi then says that if Buu doesn't help him and he dies, then if he gets sealed up, then nobody will be able to get him out. Buu instantly stops, and turns to Babidi, and agrees to heal him. He does, and Babidi exclaims that those "three brats" are going to pay for what they did!

Krillin is flying holding Goten and Trunks, when something is flying behind him. It's Piccolo! He then tells Krillin to get Goten and Trunks to the Lookout immediately! Krillin asks about Buu, and Piccolo says that he is alive! Krillin can't believe it, and asks about Vegeta, and he says that he is dead. Krillin then says that there is no more hope, but Piccolo says that there is, and he says that it is Goten and Trunks. He says that they will need some time, but they will be strong enough soon.

Meanwhile, Babidi and Buu are flying over cities, and Babidi tells Buu to destroy everything in sight in order to get those three out of hiding!

At a deserted area, Supreme Kai, still wounded, continues his search for Gohan, saying that he has to be alive. Gohan is then seen, lying in the forest, still unconscious, but close to death.
