Quebec City Upcoming Events and Festivals

Quebec City – also known as cradle of New France and declared as World Heritage site by UNESCO, is known for its events and festivals. Festivals are celebrated with jazz, customs, classical music, films and hot-air balloons. Whole year is filled with exciting and colorful festivals and events. There are many annual festivals which are celebrated every year some of which are listed below.

Saint-Jean Baptiste Celebration

Celebrated on June 24 every year, it is the biggest party for the whole city. Saint-Jean Baptiste Celebration is also known as Quebec’s National Day. It is celebrated throughout the night at Plaine d’Abraham with people of all ages. This celebration is enjoyed with various musical and dance performances, bonfire, fireworks and lots of drinking. There are many children related activities, food fairs and street processions.

FĂȘtes de la Nouvelle-France

A weeklong event held in mid August every year, includes various activities which allows visitors to go back in the time of 17th century. Step into the streets of Lower Town and explore the old heritage of Quebec City. Various parades, shows, animation and presentations depict the life of people of that period. There is a Nouvelle-France outdoor market with dressed-up citizens and costumed actors.

Envol et Macadam Festival

This is not only a festival but also competition of alternative music between many international musical bands held at Ilot Fleurie Park. It involves latest musical forms like punk, hip-hop, rock and indie. This festival also hosts the Global Battle of the Bands Challenge Canada which is a part of worldwide live music contest where new bands fight over to win attention of the crowd and cash prize pekanbaru. Also musical band selected in PLANETROX – worldwide musical competition perform during this festival.
